Trip to Ranthambore Fort

If you are planning to visit Ranthambhore during your India Tour or Rajasthan tour, you should travel to Ranthambhore fort during your stay. The history of Sawai Madhopur revolves arround the Ranthambhore Fort, which is surrounded by Vindhyas and Aravallis, amidst vast and arid denuded tracts of Rajasthan. Ranthambhore name came from the two hills, Rann and Thambor which are in close proximately of each other. Fort lays on an isolated the Thambhore hill and 481 metres (1578 ft.) above sea level and Rann is adjoining the hill of Thambhore which covers some breathtaking views and the entire top of a hill at the heart of the Park. 



Ranthambhore Fort is approx 14 km from the Sawai Madhopur Railway station. You can hire a cab or jeep in advance to visit this majestic Fort. If you have your own car then you can take it, Private cars are allowed up to the fort Parking. You will be drive to Ranthambhore Fort with your English speaking guide by four wheel drive maruti gypsy or your private car; you will have to pass through the main entrance gate of The National Park to the Fort. This main entrance gate located at Sherpur Tri-junction or Tiraha ( ganesh Dhaam) , a little further you will pass Misardara Gate that is first attraction of the National park , you can see on your left hand water filler with gargoyle. After crossing the first ascent you can see outline of the Ranthambhore Fort with heavy wall and bastion. Meanwhile the Fort or park drive you can watch many birds and can see wild animal such as spotted deer, sambar deer, Mongoose and monkeys. As the area surrounded by Aravali hill and cliff, you can try and have chance to see leopard upon the cliff. If you have good luck then you can spot Tiger during your drive to the Fort.

 




Ranthambhore Fort has also famous for “Ganesh Temple”. It is a very old temple inside the fort, which attracts a lot of pilgrims and visitors. Thousands of people come here from every corner of the country, and seek blessings from the Lord for happiness and prosperity. During fort drive you can see many devotees on the way. Some of them are on foot and by vehicles. Sometimes people have to face tiger on the way of Ranthambhore Fort, while other herbivores are common sight. A good day to visit the fort is Wednesday, the day of the Lord Ganesh, when a lot of local people visit the Ganesh temple. One interesting aspect is the mail that is sent to Lord Ganesha consisting mainly of wedding invitations. These letters are delivered daily by the local postman. After crossing the first ascent or Atal Sagar you will reach at Singhdwar (Portal), A Forest Check Post situated on your right hand at Singhdwar, from there all safari vehicles goes on their respective zone and few zone start from Jogi Mahal. There is another last and third ascent and then you will reach at Ranthambhore Fort.

When you will reach at Ranthambhore fort, you will see a very old and a huge Banyan tree which greets every traveler and devotees at the gate of the Ranthambhore Fort. It is believed that Banyan tree is around 500 years old. There is a another gate in front of the Fort, which use for only jungle safari, this gate is known as Jogi Mahal gate. Jogi Mahal is another attraction in Ranthambhore, The very first it was the tourist lodge but now a days it is use only for forest department and tourist is not allow but if you have any special permission from the forest department then you can visit this place. The adjoining Padam Talao pulls attention to all visitors. Another huge Banyan tree is near Jogi Mhal and it is said that is second largest Banyan tree in India. After parking your vehicle you will start your visit to 9th century old fort that is lies on isolated Thambhore hill and 481 meters (1578 feet) above from sea level. This is second largest fort in Rajasthan. The fort is spread over an area about 7 kilo meters in length and includes an area of nearly 4 square kilometers.The fort is worth a visit just for the views of the national park - it is breathtaking view from the fort. The Fort has around 200 steps climb.





The Ranthambore fort is surrounded by huge stonewalls which become stromg by towers and bastions. The entire stone for masonry work has been mined from fort area itself and mines were later change into water tank or ponds for spring water storage. There are many ruins inside the fort and remnants of the walls are mute testimony of the past. The ruined buildings inside the Fort such as Badal Mahal, Dulha Mahal,Rani tank which is front of mausoleum, Hammir court, Phansi Ghar etc. There are many shrine inside the fort which belong to many community like Hindus, Muslims, jain. During your visit to Ranthambhore Fort you will find many cenotaphs, gates, peep hole etc and 32 Pillars cenotaph is major attraction of the fort, from there a path goes to Ganesh temple. Mostly visitors see western part of the fort , very few people goes to eastern part of the fort because there is nothing more special except wild, so when you are in Ranthambhore tour you must see Ranthambhore Fort.

Ranthambore National Park


Ranthambhore National Park is one of the best Wildlife National parks in India and Famous for its wildlife excursion. Ranthambore National Park is a charming combine of the past and nature. The Park is 180 km away from Jaipur by road and located in sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan which is surrounded by Aravalli hills and Vindhya Plateau mountain range. The Park covers an area 1334 sq km, Ranthambore National park is home of different kind of animals like the Samabar deer ,Spotted deer, monkeys, mangoos , jackal, sloth beer, leopard and  certainly, the tiger.Ranthambore has dry deciduous forests.

The Park derives its name from the Ranthambore Fort. Ranthambore name came from two hills, Rann and Thambor, which are adjacent to each other.Fort located on an inaccessible the Thambhore hill and Rann is neighboring the hill of Thambhore which covers some awesome views and the complete peak of a hill at the heart of the Park.

Ranthambore National Park was recognized as the Game Sanctuary in 1955 by the Indian Government. In 1973, it was acknowledged one of the Project Tiger reserves, and in 1980 declared as Ranthambore national park. After few year in 1984, adjoining forest area of the national park were declared as sawai Mansingh Sanctuary and Kela devi Sanctuary. In 1991 the area of Tiger reserve was bloated to include the both sanctuaries. Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary is well - known for its flora and fauna and famous for tigers and is one of the best places in the world to see these royal vermin in the Forest of ranthambore.
